Working Pattern: 36 hrs per week, Term Time Only (38 weeks per year)


Fixed term until June 2023


We require a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our established team with a specific focus on supporting A Level Students. You will support the academic progress of A Level students and specifically raise aspirations inspiring students to reach their full potential in accessing opportunities for Higher Education. This includes supporting specific groups of learners in applying for Russel Group Universities.


You will deliver a full timetable of weekly tutorials to the support career journey and deliver a range of pastoral topics in line with our commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing and personal development. Working alongside A Level teachers; your role will be to break down barriers and ensure that all students are able to achieve successful outcomes both academically and socially.


You will have a proven track record in delivering personal development/careers sessions or similar. You will be experienced in monitoring the achievement and progression of students ideally within an educational setting. You will have a sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people and have an ability to motivate students with a diverse range of needs. You will have excellent interpersonal skills in working with students and a calm problem solving approach.

Tameside College is a coeducational further education establishment. It is situated in the town of Ashton-under-Lyne, in Lancashire. It gives students a range of qualifications to choose from. This includes BTEC, Apprenticeships and degrees. The college also manages and owns Clarendon Sixth Form College, Camp Street, Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire OL6 6DF.

Success rates are very high for apprentices and workplace learners. Support from staff helps learners to overcome barriers to learning; learners use of the virtual learning environment (VLE) well to consolidate learning and develop study and research skills. Teachers’ high levels of industrial experience and good links with employers enthuse and motivate learners."
