Job overview

17.5 hours per week on a 40 week contract

We are seeking to appoint an academic learning mentor with good pastoral skills. You will work as part of a team providing identified students with the strategies to develop and make progression with their learning. Whilst experience and appropriate qualifications are desirable, they may not be essential. The ideal candidate should be passionate, empathic and possess an understanding of the role in order to empower young people. The applicant should enjoy working with young people and be able to draw on strategies and experience to manage and resolve conflict. The post is suited to a person with secondary school experience but all applicants are encouraged to apply. This post is currently attached to a 40 week contract and will initially be temporary, reviewed on a term basis.

The school boasts a really positive and supportive relationship between colleagues, staff and pupils. We have an impressive range of extra-curricular activities and all our staff are involved in running at least one. Ours is a caring and well-ordered environment in which all students can enjoy learning, develop enquiring minds and acquire the skills and knowledge they need for a changing world. Every day we see the results of our efforts in students who work responsibly and with consideration for others – they are the best ambassadors for the school.

GCA has a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and has safer recruitment procedures in place for the selection of staff. It is committed to the principle of equal opportunities; we welcome all applicants and value the diversity they bring.

Please see the school’s website or TES website for further information and an application form, and email your completed application to voxley@greigcityacademy.co.uk. Interested candidates are invited to visit the school before making an application.

The closing date for receiving completed application forms is 7th December 2017 and it is anticipated that interviews will take place during the week commencing 11th December.

Please note that we reserve the right to close or extend the deadline for this position depending on application numbers, therefore we would urge candidates to submit an application at their earliest opportunity.
