About the role 

To support the use of IT within the academy environment as part of the Trusts Central IT Team, through maintenance of IT software, hardware, and related equipment, and providing support to staff and pupils to ensure administration and learning outcomes are maximised.

An IT Manger:

Attends and contributes to site meetings to review the IT support work at the academy and plan for the future.

 Leads meetings of the IT support team at their academy when required.

 Liaise with Data & Exams Officer and Data Team to ensure ongoing review and improvement.

 Maintains an overview of the academy service desk(s) for IT issues, reviewing incoming tickets, assigning them and monitoring progress.

 Liaise with the external suppliers for the repair of equipment under warranty or maintenance contract.

 Is fully aware of data protection policy and good practice and acts to advise and assist users to operate in ways that are fully compliant. Reports any breaches or concerns to the data controller of the academy and/or the Trust.

 Gathers monthly data on the work at the service desk to allow ongoing review and improvement.

Arranges reorganisation of duties in the absence of colleagues in line with the service level agreement and steps in personally when required

This is a Permanent Post, 37 hours per week.

Who we are looking for 

Knowledge and skills equivalent to national qualifications level 3 and vendor qualifications for the specific hardware / software used

Excellent customer service skills

Requires up to date practical and procedural ICT knowledge / skills with hardware and software to support ICT teaching and learning

Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office Suite

Previous experience and proven ability when working under direction to use initiative and make decisions and resolve routine issues relating to system procedures and issues, passing to supervisor when required, and has the relevant skills for analysis of a variety  of ICT issues; monitor and reports on system integrity and security.

About Havelock Academy

Located in the town of Grimsby, Lincolnshire, Havelock Academy is a co-educational secondary school. Havelock has around 1000 pupils aged 11-18, making it slightly larger than the average secondary school. The school has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in its student intake. Originally known as Havelock school, it was established in the 1960s, adopting its current name in 2007 upon its conversion to an academy. The school is part of the David Ross Education Trust, a multi-academy trust responsible for a large number of schools across the Midlands and the north of England.
