NORTH CESTRIAN SCHOOL

The Cestrian Way: Cestrian Learning, Cestrian Behaviour

Job Title: Accelerated Learning KS3 Teacher of Geography/History

Location: Altrincham

Salary: MPS – UPS

Start Date: September 2019

Contract Type: Full Time

Contract Term: Permanent

North Cestrian is a Free School and part of the Hamblin Education Trust along with Altrincham Grammar School for Boys.  The school is a mainstream, non-selective, co-educational 11-16 academy, serving the community in and around Altrincham.

We are a popular over-subscribed school with 520 pupils on roll, growing to approximately 720 pupils over the next few years. A £7.3 million refurbishment and expansion programme are nearing completion providing outstanding facilities for pupils and staff.

We are looking to appoint a qualified teacher who can teach Humanities with specific focus on students with low prior attainment. We wish to ensure that the KS2- KS3 transition is a positive one giving the opportunity for rapid progress. Providing essential literacy and numeracy support to these students is crucial to building their confidence and core skills for their progression through school.

The post would suit an upper KS2 or KS3 teacher whose strength is in nurturing students to encourage their accelerated learning. Experience of working across primary and secondary would be ideal for this post, although not essential. As this is a new post within school, we are keen for someone to develop and really make this their own whilst ensuring that they are showing progress and impact for our students.

The proportion of teaching time may vary as the school expands therefore the post holder will in the first instance work alongside classroom teachers providing support for Pupil Premium students, working 1 to 1 and assisting the SENCO where required.

We can offer:

• A disciplined environment based on clear rules and procedures.

• A knowledge-based curriculum with a focus on drill and practice to ensure key points are mastered.

• A can-do culture, not allowing circumstances to prevent progress.

• Expectation of a full buy-in from parents.

You will be:

• Upper KS2 or KS3 teacher. This post is suitable for an NQT or more experienced teacher.

• A teacher with the passion and skills to help all our students fulfil their potential

• Relentlessly focussed upon the demonstrable, specific and measurable progress of all

• Flexible and able to adapt to the different elements of the role

All teachers at North Cestrian School are expected to be aware of and subscribe to the School’s academic and pastoral mission and to maintain high personal and professional standards in all their dealings with pupils and parents.

Completed application forms should be submitted by 12noon on the 29th April 2019 to Diane Jamieson via email.

Applications will be reviewed as received, so we may be in contact before the closing date.

Interviews will be held on 7th May 2019.

The appointment will be subject to Enhanced Disclosure through the DBS. At interview applicants will be expected to provide evidence confirming date of birth and academic qualifications.
