Felsted School

Felsted is a leading day and boarding independent school based in a stunning village campus in North Essex. Founded in 1564 by Richard Lord Riche, who had been a Lord Chancellor under King Edward VI, Felsted today provides an exceptional holistic education to approximately 1100 boys and girls aged four to eighteen. We celebrated our 450th anniversary in 2014, one of only a handful of schools in the country that have claimed this historic milestone. We employ more than 160 teachers and 440 operational staff in a community orientated environment, ensuring our pupils receive the very best in learning and co-curricular activities.

Our beautiful 90-acre countryside campus is the setting for an education for day pupils as well as our boarders that is exciting and inspiring. We embrace modern teaching methods and technology while celebrating the traditions of our 460+ year history too. All this is just an hour away from both London and Cambridge, and 20 minutes from Stansted Airport.

At Felsted, pupils aged four to 18 have everything they need to grow and thrive.

Classes are small throughout our independent school and every pupil is treated as an individual, encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning, discover new interests and build on their passions.

From our youngest Felstedians in the Prep School starting on their learning journey, to our Sixth Form students in the Senior School who are busy studying at either A Level or the successful International Baccalaureate programme, every child has the space to grow and thrive so that they can go out into the world and make a difference.

Our education is broad, inclusive, inspiring and considered. Absorbing knowledge is of no use to our students if they do not have the skills and sensitivities to apply it in real-world situations, so there is an all-pervading emphasis across both the academic and co-curricular programme on developing the personal attributes and characteristics that will enable each student to make an active contribution to society and to find fulfilment in life.
