Job overview

Are you a qualified social worker with extensive safeguarding experience who wants to further develop your skills within the field of education? If so, due to the promotion of a member of the team, an opportunity has arisen to join the specialist and well regarded Education Safeguarding Service. You will act as an area education safeguarding lead, working closely with KCC’s Children, Young People and Education Directorate colleagues, headteachers, senior leaders and early years providers to offer support, advice and challenge on all matters relating to safeguarding children.

The role includes both delivering statutory services on behalf of Kent County Council and those commissioned directly by schools and settings in both Kent and further afield. Key responsibilities include representing education services on multi-agency working groups, writing single agency reports for Child Safeguarding Practice and Domestic Homicide Reviews, preparing and delivering bespoke and core training for a range of education staff, and undertaking safeguarding reviews and management investigations.

The post requires someone who is self-motivated, autonomous and able to work under pressure. You will be well supported in developing new areas of expertise.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Education Safeguarding Service.  The Education People has a mission to provide the highest quality services to the education community that we serve. The council is providing the financial backing to allow the company to invest in its staff and to provide them with the necessary skills and resources to allow it to grow, innovate and improve outcomes for the children and young people it provides for. The company will have the freedom to explore new ways of working and to develop new markets in support of its core mission. Our aim is to make The Education People a destination of choice for professionals seeking opportunities to develop careers across a broad spectrum of roles.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with the Health and Care Professions Council.
