Art & Design Teacher Key Stage 3 & GCSE

We expect our brilliant Art & Design teachers to be highly skilled and passionate educators who possess a unique set of qualities that allow them to connect with their students on a deep level. They should be empathetic and caring, taking the time to listen to their students' concerns and provide emotional support when needed.

We require all our teachers to have exceptional communication skills which allow them to convey complex ideas and concepts in a way that is easy to understand for all their students. They should be creative and innovative in their teaching approach, using a range of methods to keep their students engaged and excited about learning.

Our teachers are well-organised and structured, creating clear objectives and providing our students with a supportive learning environment that enables them to focus and stay on track. They are also highly responsive to the needs of their students, adapting their teaching style to each individual's learning style and providing personalised support and guidance to help them achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver engaging and effective Art & Design lessons to students in the secondary years.
• Create and implement schemes of work and lesson plans in line with the school's British national curriculum and teaching standards.
• Assess and evaluate students' progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians as needed.
• Contribute to the development of the Art & Design curriculum and teaching resources
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
• Participate in extracurricular activities and school events as required, School Productions, Christmas Shows, Talent Shows and Art events that take place throughout the year.

Requirements:

• A degree in Art &design or a related field.
• A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent) and relevant teaching experience in a secondary school setting.
• A thorough understanding of the UK National Curriculum and experience of teaching Art & Design to Secondary and IGCSE level standards.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Being able to teach students how to draw, paint and sculpt would be advantageous.
• The ability to motivate and inspire students to achieve their full potential.
• Working in collaboration with the Visual and Performing Arts department, including Drama and Music. 
• Must be able to give guidance to students who participate in Art extra classes. 
• Experience working with EAL learners is an advantage.
• Must be a team player and collaborate well with other teachers.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development.
