Yateley Manor is currently seeking to appoint a passionate and well qualified Part Time Art Teacher. 

Yateley Manor is a leading co-educational independent school in the town of Yateley, North Hampshire, with approximately 250 children on roll from Nursery to Year 8. The School has recently announced the exciting news that it plans to expand to take GCSE students, with the first Year 9 cohort starting in September 2024. Yateley Manor School are part of the Inspired Learning Group.

The school is non-selective and a member of IAPS. Class sizes are small and teaching areas bright and purposeful. Facilities at the school include an indoor swimming pool, large sports hall, woodland learning area, climbing wall, tennis courts and playing fields.

Children in Pre-Prep up to the end of Year 4 spend most of their time with their class teacher. They have a selection of subjects with subject specialist teachers namely French, Sport, Drama, and Music. Emphasis is placed on the early acquisition of essential literacy and numeracy skills but this is strongly supported by a wide range of subjects and activities designed to broaden the education and inspire imagination. Children in Years 5 onwards benefit from being taught by subject specialists. The children are well-mannered and passionate about their learning whilst the staff harness this with exciting and carefully planned lessons which challenge every child.

We are rooted in strong relationships, a love for learning and high quality teaching. The sense of family at Yateley Manor is palpable from the moment you step forth into the environment. Our last ISI Inspection reported “Excellent” in all areas, testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff team.

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring, committed, and qualified teacher of Art to work with our successful Art and Design department. The successful candidate should be able to teach across the whole age range up to Year 11, and ability range. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the future development of the subject both within the curriculum and in terms of performance.

Art is a popular subject and is taught in an incredible Art studio including a Kiln for clay work. The department also includes a separate design technology space with food technology kitchen, and textiles area.

We would like to hear from experienced Art teacher, the ability to deliver GCSE Art is essential, experience of teaching photography would also be looked upon favourably.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning Responsibilities

  • To be a part of the developing vision of the department through the delivery of effective lessons and exciting performance opportunities throughout the school.
  • To teach the department’s specification and schemes of work alongside development plans and departmental policies.
  • Ensure the students are fully supported, academically and pastorally.
  • To have a working knowledge of the department’s chosen specifications
  • Have knowledge of pupil’s achievements during previous year groups or schools to ensure that this is used effectively to monitor student’s attainment to secure good progress in Art.
  • To reflect on their own teaching skills and provide feedback to other members of the department and take appropriate action to improve further the quality of teaching and learning
  • Ensure assessment, curriculum coverage, continuity and progression in the subject for pupils of all ages and abilities, including special educational needs and English as an additional language.
  • To monitor progress and evaluate the effects of any improvement strategies on teaching and learning, analysing work and outcomes
  • Communicating and consulting with the parents and outside agencies through reports and at Parents’ Evenings
  • To ensure that internal examinations are set and marked by the required date and that results are entered into the school management system
  • Teach the theory requirements according to GCSE specifications
  • Plan and teach interesting and engaging lessons in keeping with the examination and Art syllabus.
