The British College of Gava (www.bcgava.com) near Barcelona is seeking to appoint an exceptional teacher of Art teacher within the Secondary school to start in August 2020. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our new purpose built, expanding school with exceptional facilities. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced and well organised individual able to develop, nurture and grow the Art Department as the school enters a new phase of growth and with the IB Diploma Program due to start in September 2021. Passion and enthusiasm will be essential as we seek to appoint an individual able to quickly develop the department into a dynamic, enriching and creative hub and a key element in attracting new pupils into the school. A diverse skillset, such as the ability to teach e.g. drawing, painting, printmaking, and digital photography in an inspiring manner, will also be needed.
In the first instance, the position will involve teaching Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (Art iGCSE) and is likely to a part time (80%) role to start with. The teacher will need to be in place in Barcelona in late August 2020. There is also a possibility that this position quickly evolves in a 100 % role. For exceptional candidates it could be full time straight away. Experience of IGCSE and/or IBDP would be a distinctive advantage and Qualified Teacher Status (and the associated DfE number) are essential.

To set homework that consolidates and extends classroom learning and that is based on individual need.To ensure the good behaviour of students and to develop within them positive attitudes towards peers, adults, property and school work.To maintain effective records of pupil progress and to ensure the transfer of up to date records when pupils change classes or school.To develop and maintain a good home-school partnership; to consult with and inform parents of the progress, attainment and attitudes of their children.To contribute to a whole school team approach
Teaching Specifications:
Qualified teacher status (UK) - essential
Recognised Bachelor’s degree - essential
Recognised Masters or post graduate qualification - desired
Secondary school teaching experience - essential
Knowledge and understanding of English National curriculum – essential
Knowledge of the IB programmes – desirable
Right to work in the EU
Compensation up to 24,800 Euros (80 % teaching load) and up to 31,000 euros (for Full Time) gross per annum. Support finding accommodation and loans for deposit and advanced rent if required. Local health care is excellent. Temporary 4 night stay in local hotel on arrival
