Job overview

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, passionate and inspirational Assistant Curriculum Leader for KS3 English and whole school Literacy Coordinator.  Your role will be to help instill in our students a love for the subject and a desire to learn and succeed in English as well as driving forward literacy standards across the school to ensure all students can access and engage with the whole curriculum.

We are looking for someone who has the ability to be a role model to other staff, embodying the professionalism, flexibility, resourcefulness, initiative, collaboration, and high expectations which we expect of all leaders at Churchill. The successful candidate will be expected to support the Curriculum Leader with driving change where change is needed and build on the excellent practice which already exists.

You would be joining an enthusiastic and supportive department made up of a range of specialisms and levels of experience. At Churchill Community College, we believe English is a subject where all students should thrive and the study of English should support our students to become lifelong learners who are curious about the world. Our curriculum is ambitious and exciting with lots of extra-curricular opportunities. A significant number of our students choose to stay with us for post-16 study and our numbers for both A Level English Language and A Level English Literature continue to grow.

This post offers a superb opportunity for an energetic teacher with excellent skills to develop further within a positive and supportive environment.

We are really keen to appoint the right person to our school.  The closing date is 12pm on Monday 23rd May 2022. Resources are available to download from our website www.churchillcommunitycollege.org. Please use the information to outline your strengths and teaching philosophy. Churchill Community College is an 11-18yrs comprehensive school in North Tyneside.

Churchill is very much a community school, and whilst the community we serve is enormously proud and supportive of the school, a significant proportion of our students come from low income or deprived households, with more than 40% of our cohort eligible for the Pupil Premium.

We aim to make all our young people feel completely safe, secure, valued and appreciative of the many opportunities their education here can afford them.

We set high standards in all areas and expect the very best from all members of our learning community. In return, we aim to provide excellent teaching and up-to-date curriculum provision with high quality pastoral care and an outstanding range of opportunities beyond the classroom for all learners. We believe these are the hallmarks of a truly successful school.
