Job overview

Bury Council is moving forwards with pace and purpose and with the recent appointment of a new Chief Executive this is an exciting time to join us. As part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority we are well placed to take advantage of the many opportunities that will present themselves over the coming years. In turn, we need a modern and dynamic education service to ensure that our children and young people have the qualifications, understanding and skills needed to access the jobs of the future.

Of course, much of this relies on us working with our Headteachers and Principals in a different way, enabling schools and academies to develop effective school to school support and strong partnerships. In addition, we have used the opportunity of the critical SEND inspection in June 2017 to forge new relationships with our commissioners, health providers, schools and parents to ensure that schools in Bury can be inclusive for all children. We are making significant progress in this area. We are therefore looking for an Assistant Director for Education and Inclusion who understands the new education landscape and can effectively continue with the good progress that has been made and facilitate and broker a stronger performance and improvement school-led system.

Candidates will need to have substantial leadership experience in an education setting, the ability to forge strong relationships, change management skills, and a determination to improve outcomes for all of our children and young people.

For more information please see: www.buryleadership.com or talk to our advising consultants Luke Judd (0113 205 6077) or Rachel Cox (0113 205 6068).

Closing date: 22 June 2018
