Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional professional to join our Trust Leadership Team as Assistant Director of Mathematics in our secondary phase.

Joining us, you will  provide strategic direction, leadership and management of mathematics education across our schools and support our vision for all learners to grow in the mastery of mathematics, whatever their prior attainment.

We aim for our learners to become fluent in their use of mathematics, with the ability to reason mathematically and solve problems in a variety of contexts. We envisage you supporting our colleagues to fully embed the aims of the national curriculum so that all pupils make exceptional progress in mathematics, thus facilitating and unlocking potential in a wide range of other disciplines.

About us

Lionheart Academies Trust was formed by Beauchamp College as an outstanding provider. We are very proud of our students and the progress they make consistently places us in the top 100 state schools nationally. We seek to build on this, further breaking down any barriers to learning and ensuring that each provider in our trust is able to embed excellence in all areas of practice. Ultimately, we believe that any young person from any background deserves an equal chance to be successful in whatever they choose to do. We want to share our love of learning with all young people in our care; we are preparing our students with the knowledge and confidence to thrive in a competitive world.

Beauchamp College is the lead school in the East Midlands South Maths Hub, one of a national network of 35 hubs across England, tasked with improving mathematics teaching and learning from ages 4-18. We do this by offering high-quality CPD and working with teachers and other mathematical professionals across the East Midlands region.

The Trust is currently made up of a family of three primary schools and two secondary schools - Beauchamp College in Oadby and The Cedars Academy in Birstall. By September 2018, there are plans for up to four more secondary schools, from the Leicester and Leicestershire area, to join the Trust, bringing the number of children educated within the LAT to over 8,000. As our trust grows there will be clear opportunities for career progression.

If you want to make the next step in your career, with an employer who will listen to you, challenge and support your decision making and provide a wealth of resource to fulfil this fantastic opportunity, your application will be welcomed.

Visits to our trust are welcome; please email Vanessa Perkins, Principal’s PA: vmp@beauchamp.org.uk to agree a mutually convenient time to visit. For further information and to apply, please visit http://www.lionhearttrust.org.uk/opportunities/vacancies/

Closing date: Monday, 11th December 2017 at 9.00am.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks, therefore, all posts are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

I believe that education has the power to create new and exciting life chances for young people and I am passionate about seeing them being able to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. Lionheart Educational Trust aims to play a part in preparing them to be confident, resilient, mature, aspirational and active young people. It is essential to shape learners with these key qualities and as a Trust, we seek to break down barriers in order to provide opportunities for all students to progress. I am proud to have a staff body who are united in this aim; to drive up standards and provide exciting opportunities for young people. It is imperative for the Lionheart Educational Trust that every person who seeks employment with us, shares our vision.

The Lionheart Educational Trust continually strives to provide a range of educational experiences that are challenging, enjoyable and able to break down any barriers, so that everyone has a chance succeed. This involves seeking to create lifelong learners and offer outstanding provision for our 4-19 year olds. To do that, we invest in our teachers, leaders and associate staff through empowerment, encouraging the sharing of best practice across the Trust, career planning and the extensive offering of CPD opportunities.

When joining one of our Trust schools, you will undoubtedly experience the unique culture of that school, built from its history, local community, parents and most importantly its student body. However, you will also benefit from being part of the Lionheart family, with shared resources, centralised support and future development opportunities.

The Lionheart Educational Trust established in 2014 with Beauchamp College as its founding provider, and has now grown to 11 schools - from primaries through to post-16 - making up our growing East Midlands educational trust.

As our journey continues to open up doors for young people across Leicestershire, we hope that you will join us too.

Kath Kelly

CEO of Lionheart Educational Trust & Executive Principal of Beauchamp College
