Job overview

The school seeks to appoint a full-time, permanent Assistant Director of Music from September 2018.  The successful candidate will be an inspirational, dynamic and well-qualified musician with whole-class teaching experience, able to teach at KS3, GCSE, A Level and IB.  The successful applicant will be expected to play a full, proactive part in the department’s exciting and extensive co-curricular programme as well as contributing to the pastoral life of the school.  The ability to offer choral or orchestral directing experience would be attractive; prior experience of the IB Diploma is not required. 

This is a newly created post which may suit an excellent teacher at the start of their career, or a more experienced teacher looking to work within and take some responsibility for a large and active Music Department. Music at PGS commands a national reputation and this new role recognises the school’s wish to build on this vibrant tradition.  This post comes at an exciting moment in the Music Department’s development as plans are well underway for a new, enlarged, purpose-built Department projected to be completed in 2020.

ISI Report 2022

During an ISI Inspection in late 2022 both the achievement of the pupils, including their academic development and the personal development of the pupils were found to be excellent - the highest possible classification. The Inspection also looked at the School’s compliance with the regulatory standards and requirements. PGS met all the standards required.
