This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious teacher and school leader, to develop their career working as part of our senior management team to implement and develop our pastoral care systems with particular focus on pupil welfare and well-being. This crucial role is part of the school’s commitment to ensure that all pupils achieve their potential in a happy, safe and harmonious environment.

The main focus of the role is to lead the development of pastoral engagement, provision and policy; promote and safeguard the welfare and wellbeing of the pupils; establish a clear ethos, set of values and opportunity for personal enrichment; lead and ensure compliance with the school’s safeguarding Policy and Procedures and fulfil the role of the school’s designated safeguarding lead.

The Assistant Head – Pupil Welfare and Wellbeing is a key member of the Senior Management Team and not only heads the pastoral programme throughout the school but has devolved duties to teach his/her subject and to assist in the day to day running of the school. An excellent educational understanding of key pastoral issues and organisational abilities, sensitivity, discretion, efficiency and energy are requirements of the position.

The duties are extensive and require a full commitment to the welfare, happiness and well-being of the school community, as well as compliance with Statutory Regulations.

Mayfield Preparatory School is a highly successful over-subscribed selective Independent School (IAPS) with over 200 boys and girls, aged 2 - 11 years.
