Have you ever dreamed of an educational blank canvas?

Bohunt School Wokingham (BSW) is looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative individual with an excellent track record and experience of leading successful whole school priorities; to help shape and ensure the success of our new-build secondary school. The school opened in September 2016 with Year 7, and will grow to a roll of 1200 students, aged 11-16, by September 2020, with planning consent to extend to 11-18.

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for Pastoral Care, including SEN, with emphasis on student engagement and enjoyment at school and the overview of student welfare and wellbeing. The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving forwards the ethos and vision of the school. A desire to be a big player in the development of a hugely ambitious brand new school is essential. Potential is just as important as experience. You will need to demonstrate a commitment to and evidence of success in sustaining academic excellence, and development of the wider aspects of school life; that enable every child to succeed. Applicants should be excellent classroom practitioners in their own right; as well as being able to; work as part of a team, roll up your sleeves and inspire other staff to excel.

They must possess the capacity and credibility to drive forwards the ambition, ethos and vision of the school, with a commitment to their own and others professional development. Applicants should have a proven track record of substantial impact as a leader to raising standards and seeing beyond the ordinary.  The reputation of the school is growing dramatically as we establish ourselves and our ambitions for education. The school is heavily oversubscribed and is seen in the local community as a vibrant and exciting place to be, underpinned by high standards and a core ethos of Enjoy, Respect and Achieve.

The South of England based Bohunt Educational Trust has evolved from Bohunt School in Hampshire, rated Outstanding in every category by Ofsted and was the TES School of the Year 2014. The growing Trust currently comprises 8 schools, as well as international connections and its own Teaching School Partnership.

Potential candidates are strongly recommended to visit the school to get a feel for where we are now to assist with their applications. Please contact  to arrange a suitable time. Informal enquiries can also be made to: Mr Ben Godber, Head of School, by e-mailing on

Applications should be received no later than 1pm Tuesday 23rd April 2019.

Bohunt School Wokingham is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young students and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.
