The Role:

We are seeking enthusiastic and experienced professionals for the role of Assistant Head Teacher/Phase Leader to deliver outstanding educational support for Bexley Looked After Children and Young People Leaving Care within the Virtual School. These are unique roles, with responsibility for leading and coordinating the statutory Personal Education Plan process within an agreed education phase range and provide wider support to promote the achievement of looked after children and young people leaving care across the wider professional network, including social workers, schools and foster carers. 
The Assistant Head Teacher/Phase Leader will be passionate about securing effective support and will have line management responsibilities for at least two officers working within their designated area. The candidates will be required to oversee the implementation of strategic service priorities in their area, and to deliver and report on agreed projects to senior leaders and the Corporate Parenting Board within timescales. 

The successful candidates will be knowledgeable about the educational needs of looked after children, and skilled in identifying appropriate routes to assessment and support. This post is instrumental in helping the local authority deliver an excellent service for looked after children and young people leaving care and the candidates will be able to confidently talk to children and young people about our aspirations for them and to professionals, partners and stakeholders about the high expectations we set for ourselves and others in order to improve educational outcomes for children and young people in our care.
