We invite interest in this exciting opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team at Chase High School, which is one of three schools within the Discovery Educational Trust. As a Trust we aim to develop a vibrant partnership of primary and secondary schools, all united in one goal to provide the best possible learning experience and environment not only for our current children but also for the next generation of pupils.

Chase High School values run throughout our community ensuring the pupils have the aspiration to achieve, the character to succeed and the commitment to pursue excellence.  We are a fully inclusive school which embraces diversity and celebrates cultural diversity of our community.  Due to a recent expansion, we have increased the school PAN to 226, providing a thriving learning environment which now includes a new humanities building containing 14 classrooms, a KS4 canteen and flood lit netball courts to add to our already impressive facilities. In addition, we are also increasing our current leadership capacity to include three additional Assistant Headteacher Posts to continue the schools rapid progress.   

The school requires three assistant headteachers who share our determination, vision and drive to continue the school improvement journey and help the school move to Good and ultimately Outstanding. Candidates can express an interest in one (or more) of the following areas of responsibility:


Assistant Headteacher - Curriculum

o Lead on pupil progress and reporting and work closely with Deputy Headteacher (Quality of Education) on curriculum design and implementation.


Assistant Headteacher - Personal Development

o Work closely with the Deputy Headteacher (Behaviour and Attitudes) on raising standards and lead on character education and personal development across the school.


Assistant Headteacher – Teaching and Learning

o Lead on quality first teaching and learning which enables all students to make outstanding progress

Chase High School is a mixed, mainstream secondary school located in Westcliff-on-Sea
, near Southend, Essex. It educates more than 1,000 students aged 11-18 from over 40 countries. Since 2011, the school has had a sixth form.

Chase High School was built more than 100 years ago and recently secured academy status under the Brentwood Academies Trust. The secondary school continues to be involved in the community, forging local and international partnerships.

Values and vision

At Chase High School, academic achievement and personal performance are pursued in equal measure. Within the lower school, students gain the opportunity to study Mathematics, English, Science, PE, Technology, ICT, French, Geography, History, RE, Citizenship, Music, Art and Drama.

Every year, pupils can participate in trips to national galleries, museums and Shakespeare's Globe theatre. They also have the chance to visit France, Berlin and European ski destinations. The sixth-form programme offers a wide range of A Level and BTEC courses at Level 3.

Every student matters and the school policy is to treat everyone with dignity and support. Pupils receive support at key times, such as their transition from primary school.

“The training programmes for improving the quality of teaching are proving successful. Specific training for overseas teachers has had a highly positive impact since the last monitoring visit. The school now has good systems to support and develop newly and recently qualified teachers.”
