Both roles are integral to our mission of delivering a holistic education that prepares students for a rapidly evolving future. The successful candidates will play a pivotal role in leading elements of our Future Ready Programme, with specific responsibilities tailored to leverage their unique strengths and expertise.

At least one of the roles will be filled by someone with an extensive background in STEM education and with the ability to lead the delivery and development of AI, Coding and Robotics programmes. We additionally require individuals with a demonstrable passion for project based learning and multiple intelligences.

Shared Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Drive strategic initiatives as part of the Education Leadership Team that enhance Charterhouse Malaysia's ethos of innovation and holistic development, embodying our commitment to preparing future-ready learners.
  • Collaboration and Support: Collaborate with our Deputy Headteachers and other members of the leadership team to support and unify academic and pastoral strategies across the school.
  • Line Management: Oversee the line management of designated teams or departments, promoting professional development, accountability, and high performance.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the wider school community to foster partnerships that enhance the educational experience, promoting the school's vision for future-ready education.

Teaching and Learning Leadership

  • Lead on the development and implementation of innovative teaching and learning strategies, ensuring high standards of education across all subjects.
  • Promote and support staff professional development in pedagogical practices, including the effective integration of technology in the classroom.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning outcomes, implementing continuous improvement plans to enhance academic performance.

Pastoral Leadership

  • Oversee the Future Ready Citizenship programme, ensuring a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Lead initiatives to promote student wellbeing, resilience, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with staff to support students' emotional, social, and ethical development, aligning with Charterhouse Malaysia’s core values.
  • Leading the development of a reflective learner portfolio system that tracks student progress and achievements across both academic and personal development.
  • Supporting student-led initiatives and leadership, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to the school community through active participation.
  • Overseeing the Ignite (Careers and University) programme to ensure it sparks a passion for learning and discovery, fostering a culture of curiosity and lifelong learning.

Future Ready Leadership

The successful candidates will also be expected to lead and develop specific components of our Future Ready Programme. The exact elements each role will take on will depend on the strengths and expertise of the successful applicants. These components include:

  • SPECTRA Smarts: Leading initiatives that embed our innovative intelligence-based framework across our programme.
  • Independent Learner Projects: Championing project-based learning that encourages independent inquiry and real-world problem-solving.
  • Design Thinking: Embedding design thinking principles across teaching, learning, and student development activities.
  • The Incubator: Driving forward our hub for creativity and innovation, ensuring students have access to resources that nurture their talents and interests.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A proven track record of middle leadership and innovation in education, with specific achievements in either teaching and learning or pastoral care.
  • A deep commitment to holistic education and student wellbeing, with the ability to inspire and lead teams towards shared goals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and managerial skills.
  • Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving and project management.
  • STEM background with experience delivering AI, Coding and Robotics programmes (at least one of the roles).
  • Subject specialisms such as Physics, Maths, Business and Economics, Computer Science and English will all be considered.

We encourage early applications as the school reserves the right to appoint prior to the deadline should a suitable candidate be found.

Application Process

Candidates should outline their competencies, experiences, and vision for either the Teaching and Learning or Pastoral focus area, indicating how they would contribute to Charterhouse Malaysia's Future Ready Programme. Applicants are encouraged to specify potential Future Ready Leadership elements they feel particularly aligned with, based on their strengths and expertise. The TES application form must be completed in full and we ask for a two sided cover letter to accompany this. A CV is not required but can be submitted.

Charterhouse Malaysia is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We follow safe recruitment practices according to national and international standards. All applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and international child protection authorities.

Charterhouse Malaysia is conveniently located in the heart of Sri Hartamas and surrounded by the premium residential areas of Mont Kiara, Solaris and Publika, close to the centre of Kuala Lumpur. We will be opening our doors for the first cohort of Carthusians in August 2021.

Charterhouse Malaysia is a learning organisation that is at the heart of the local community. Our service and entrepreneurial approach, whereby learning is not restricted by traditional curricula, classroom walls, or even the school campus, encourages and empowers our students to grasp the many opportunities provided to develop as young, compassionate leaders. By insisting that they apply their knowledge and skills to developing their capacity to affect change, including by researching issues that affect the communities in which they live, and by challenging them to develop solutions to these issues, we are preparing our students to be critically thoughtful, creative and inspirational citizens.

Our robust, formal curriculum of academic disciplines prepares students for Cambridge International A-level examinations, which are accepted by universities in the UK, America, Australia and around the world.

The high standards of teaching and scholarship at Charterhouse Malaysia drives academic achievement. Students are taught in small classes with a maximum of 12 students per class. There is a strong emphasis on independent study and research. Engaging in independent learning projects not only supports strong university applications, it also develops critical thinking skills and nurtures important personal values and attributes such as honesty, resilience, empathy and respect for others.
