Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding leadership role which enables you to focus on securing the best outcomes for our pupils?

Lakenham Primary are delighted to be able to offer an exciting opportunity to join us as Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion Lead). Inclusion lies at the very heart of Lakenham Primary School. After many years having an experienced post-holder, we have a rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced SENCO to make a real impact in our school and the local community, by becoming our Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion Lead).

In this role you will be leading a team including 3 Pastoral Support Workers and a large learning support team. We are looking for an Assistant Headteacher who will be committed to raising the attainment of all pupils, regardless of their background, challenges or needs. Someone who will be effective in securing the best outcomes for our most vulnerable pupils. The post requires a driven, motivated individual who is inspired by improving the lives of vulnerable children and those with additional needs.

Lakenham Primary has 440 pupils who have the privilege of having a state of the art building right next to the city centre in Norwich, Norfolk. The school offers a calm and purposeful learning environment where students can flourish and succeed. We are currently rated as Good by OFSTED.

The DSL Role

As lead DSL, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of dedicated DSLs within the school to help maintain the Outstanding level of Safeguarding for all. You will deliver training to staff and ensure all policies are implemented successfully to ensure all members of the school’s community feel safe and this allows them to flourish. You will lead and manage the Pastoral Support team who do an amazing job and are a joy to work with.

The SENCO Role

As a dedicated Primary SENCO, you will be leading the development of SEN provision across the school, working with children, staff, parents and the Leadership Team to help provide strategic direction, shape policy and ensure SEN children make excellent progress as they move through the school.

Within both roles, you will play a key part in working with parents, carers and outside agencies to ensure our children receive the best possible expertise and support.

Our new Assistant Headteacher will be able to hit the ground running and add genuine value to the Inclusion and SEN provision of this exciting primary. ALL applicants should be a qualified SENCO, with the National SENCO award and experience working as a SENCO and preferably an Inclusion Leader within a School.

In recognition of the importance and scope of this role within the school you will not have a teaching commitment, although as the successful candidate you would be expected to model and advise on outstanding classroom practice particularly in relation to inclusion. To support you to deliver excellent outcomes we will provide you with a senior leadership team with a strong inclusive ethos, a well-established SEN team, support with your own professional development and engaging children who are keen to learn.

This is an exciting time to join and be part of Lakenham Primary as we enter into an exciting period within a new leadership team. The Head, who has been appointed for September 2018, is keen to meet and interview potential applicants.
