Huntcliff school is a ‘Good’ school with an ambitious curriculum for all.

We are seeking to appoint a committed and inspirational leader to the role of Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion, with specific strategic responsibility for students with additional Special Educational Needs and/or Disability.  The successful candidate will be an advocate of outstanding teaching and learning; ensuring every single student, regardless of barriers, can achieve great progress and personal achievements. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and the co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN.

The role of the SENCO is vital in the strategic planning of our school to ensure that students with additional needs make progress which is as good as their peers. The successful candidate will work closely with the Deputy Headteacher for Quality of Education to ensure staff have the correct information, support, and professional development to meet the needs of all students. The progress of our students with additional needs has rapidly improved over the previous two years, and this post holder will need to continue to drive those improvements.

 

The Head Teacher is responsible for the Senior Leadership Team consisting of a Deputy Head Teacher – Quality of Education and four Assistant Headteachers, two Associate Assistant Headteachers and the overall success of Huntcliff School. The middle leadership team is comprised of Subject Leaders. We are passionate about developing middle leaders and provide regular opportunities for these members of staff to become involved at a senior level. As part of this role, the successful candidate will line manage middle leaders to ensure accountability, and drive continual improvement at all levels within school.

The successful candidate must have:

 

·        QTS and the National Award for SEN Co-ordination, or a willingness to complete the new NPQ from September 2024.

·        Commitment, drive and enthusiasm to work as part of our dedicated and successful team.

·        Measurable impact as an individual teacher and leader.

·        An innovative approach to teaching and learning and the ability to model excellence in the classroom.

·        An ability to motivate and inspire students and staff to achieve their full potential.

  • The ability to establish good relationships with students, acting as a role model and responding to individual needs.
  • A passion for supporting students with additional needs.
