Job overview

The Governors are seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly motivated and inspirational Assistant Headteacher responsible for leading the whole school data system, the exams procedure and assessment. The successful candidate will join a team of professionals working with a range of complex needs including profound and multiple learning difficulties and autism. Elms Bank is an outstanding and highly successful generic secondary special school for pupils aged 11-19. Experience of working with pupils with special educational needs is essential. We are looking for a colleague who will demonstrate a high level of commitment to these special young people.

The salary for this post is £51,234 - £56,434 per annum.

You will:

  • Have extensive experience and skills in working with pupils with a range of special educational needs and be passionate about helping all our young people to achieve their full potential.
  • Be able to demonstrate how their work has had a significant impact on the whole school as part of a senior leadership team.
  • Be able to demonstrate outstanding classroom practice and be able to lead outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Have excellent interpersonal, organisational, leadership and management skills.
  • Have the ability to relate to and communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and other professionals.
  • Have a strong commitment to innovative pastoral development, pupil support and staff development.
  • Be well organised, hardworking and enthusiastic.
  • Have excellent leadership skills and be able to hold people to account.
  • Be a deputy designated safeguarding lead.
  • Contribute to the whole school calendar in line with data pulls, progress checks, moderation and work scrutiny’s and data quality assurance.
  • Lead and oversee the range of exam bodies used across the school.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of our students through the whole school data system.
  • Lead termly progress checks and lead staff to identifying a range of interventions.
  • Lead marking and feedback scrutiny’s and maintain a whole school standard and pedagogy.
  • To be lead moderator for BTEC, open awards and ASDAN and NCFE plus any future exam bodies.
