The Board of Governors and Headteacher are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for teaching and learning to join our all through school.

Mill Water School is a special school that works with children and young people aged 3 - 19 years with severe learning difficulties, often with additional complex needs including Autism. We have aspirations for all our pupils to lead a happy, healthy and fulfilling life as adults and we want to equip them with the skills they need to be able to achieve that. We work closely with parents and carers to support our pupils in making good progress towards their future goals.

This post is an exciting opportunity to work as a Senior Leader with hard-working and dedicated school staff.

You must be committed to securing the best possible outcomes for pupils with SEND and have the drive to continually raise standards across the school. You must have an understanding of the importance of working towards aspirations and outcomes as outlined in a pupil's EHCP. You will need to have experience of evidencing and tracking progress for pupils with Special Educational Needs. Ensuring our pupils consistently access quality first teaching is fundamental to providing the best education we can offer and you will need to evidence your impact on school improvement.

You will be a committed individual able to lead the development of teaching and learning practice throughout the school. You will be knowledgeable about the professional development of teaching and support staff and have experience of technologies to support teaching and learning. You will have experience in working with pupils with special educational needs and/or disability and have had experience within a Leadership and Management role.

We are a member of the SENtient Trust - a Co-operative Education trust made up of the other special schools in Devon.

Further information and application details are available from www.millwater.devon.sch.uk. Alternatively, you can contact Paula Harris, PA to the Headteacher, on 01395 568890 for information or to arrange a visit. Please apply by 9am on the closing date.

Closing date: 08 October 2018
Interview date: 18 October 2018

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This role requires a DBS disclosure. This role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
