ASSISTANT HOUSEMASTER / MISTRESS OF A BOYS AND GIRLS HOUSE
Milton Abbey are seeking exceptional individuals to help run our five boarding houses (3 boys, 2 girls). We need two enthusiastic and caring residential Assistant Housemasters / Housemistresses with a deep commitment to pastoral care and a desire to be part of a team overseeing transformational education of young people, in and beyond the classroom.
The successful applicants will ideally have boarding experience and will relish the opportunities and challenges of being involved in a boarding house in a 24/7 full boarding school environment. An excellent record as a classroom practitioner is required although the main focus of this role is pastoral.
Working in partnership with our families, this role provides extraordinary opportunities to shape the lives of the young people in your care. House staff work in a dynamic and highly supportive team, line managed by their Housemaster / mistress and the Deputy Head Pastoral.
We offer a genuinely different learning experience to our students, with the widest range of vocational courses in the independent sector, and a focus on the development of the whole person, not just examination results. More than half of our students have identified learning challenges and we promote opportunities for them to ‘learn differently’ and successfully here.
Assistant Housemasters/mistresses teach a reduced timetable, allowing them to help the ensure their pupils’ holistic needs are met. Assistant Housemasters/mistresses play an important role at the heart of the school community, making an outstanding contribution to the life of Milton Abbey School.
