Job overview

Job Title: Assistant Housemistress for Girls' Boarding

Location: Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

Reporting To: Housemistress

Start Date: September 2024

Salary: £24,767 per annum

Closing Date: 3rd May 2024

Interview Date: Week commencing 13th May 2024

Sedbergh School, founded in 1525 by Roger Lupton, Provost of Eton, is one of the leading co-educational boarding Schools in the north of England. Casterton, Sedbergh Prep School is set at Casterton, in the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park and is home to over 200 boys and girls aged between 4 and 13 years, both boarding and day pupils.

CSPS is seeking an empathetic and caring professional to join our small but committed team, working with the Housemistress to provide an exceptional boarding experience for our girls. CSPS offers a full range of boarding options, from flexi to full boarding, with around 40 girls enjoying some form of boarding.

The girls are accommodated in two separate buildings, just a stone’s throw apart from each other, with the AHSM residing in Thornfield and the Housemistress in Beale. There are several other staff living on site and connected to Thornfield, meaning that whilst the AHSM enjoys a good deal of responsibility for the girls, she is never without the support of others.

Whilst CSPS enjoys a relatively high number of full boarders who remain in the School throughout the week, the AHSM is entitled to one full day off per week and Exeat Weekends take place every 3 to 4 weekends.

Further information on the role can be found in the Job Description, and Person Specification.
