Parkside School is recruiting for a Head of Inclusion & SENCO to join the leadership team and deliver a dynamic inclusive approach to lead and manage SEND and inclusion across the school. You will be responsible for creating a provision that enables our SEN students to be successful and move into successful careers.

There is much to do, but the successful applicant will be supported by a Trust wide SEN/SENCO network along with the opportunity to visit and work with other schools to witness best practice and use that experience to develop others at Parkside School. You will be well supported in this exciting post by the Head and the Trust SENCO network. You will also have a team of two Deputy SENCOs to support you in running the SEN provision.  This post would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is ready to be part of wider school Leadership Team and part of Parkside’s drive for improvement. The successful post holder will work closely with other key members of the Leadership Team such as the Assistant Head for teaching and learning and the Deputy Head Pastoral Care to ensure that students’ needs are well provided for at Parkside School. .

The SEN department contains a 24 place Resource Provision is a dedicated area for students with EHCPs (Autism) to work in a hybrid model with students in school. We are excited that an extension to the current provision has been agreed with the Local Authority and we expect work to be completed during the summer.

Inclusive thinking needs to be at the forefront of all teachers' practice and as SENCO you will need to lead the vision and practice across the school. As such the post holder will lead/coordinate a range of CPD for staff in this area.

Our vision for Parkside School is that Parkside School should visibly and substantively impact on the community it is embedded within. This impact should be important, meaningful and considerable. This means young people from Parkside should develop into well-rounded young people who know how to keep themselves safe. We want students to have a personal and specific hope for the future which they can articulate, believe in and share with others; students who can empathise, critique, protect, love, inspire, make, design, explore and understand; students who are willing to try things they have never done before, do things they don’t want to do and be willing to reinvent themselves to become the best that they can be.

To take Parkside forward, we will need to be courageous. We will need to try new things, be open to change and have the courage to put ourselves out of our comfort zones in order to grow.

We encourage any applicant to come and visit the school or to book an informal phone conversation about this role with Steve Tighe, Head Teacher. Please contact the school on s.tighe@wellspringacademies.org.uk to arrange a suitable time.

If you are as excited by this challenge as we are and you think this might be the role for you, please apply by following the link below, having taken note of the attachments, by 9am on Wednesday 8th May 2024
