We wish to appoint an Attendance Improvement Worker (Temporary for one year in the first instance) to assist staff in identifying and resolving patterns of student absence in order to make a measurable impact upon the school's rates of authorised and unauthorised absence, with a particular focus on Pupil Premium students.

The Attendance Improvement Worker needs to respond knowledgeably and efficiently to many enquiries and situations each day and be effective in dealing with a wide range of pupils and parents, including many experiencing severe family difficulties and with various other agencies. It is necessary that they should be able to communicate effectively (by telephone, in writing and at meetings) with parents, school staff and others and give clear information and sound advice and support as required.

The main challenge of the post is to provide an informed and efficient service, bringing families schools and other agencies together to benefit the education and welfare of the children concerned. An Attendance Improvement Worker requires a wide range of personal and interpersonal skills.
