Wigan and Leigh College are looking to appoint highly motivated and creative Lecturer of Biology. The College is an exciting place to work as the provision expands and the delivery of Science is key to this development.

Lecturers in the department deliver across our whole range of provision, from Level 2 to Level 5 including GCSE, BTEC, Access to HE (Science), A-Level, and Higher Education, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate. We also contribute significantly to the delivery of science units from other principal subject areas across the college, for example Animal Management, Health and Social Care, and Access to HE (Health).

Wigan & Leigh College’s philosophy is outstanding teaching and high achievement to ensure our students are prepared for the world of work. All our staff play a key role in this aim, working with students and colleagues across college and delivering high-quality teaching in the classroom.

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time. 

Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
