First established in 1883, King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys is a selective grammar school for boys located in Birmingham, West Midlands. With around 900 students aged 11-18, the school moved to its current site in 1956, and has seen extensive redevelopment and modernisation over the years, with the most recent development being the addition of new classrooms in 2016. The school shares its campus with a sister school of the same name, except for girls.

Values and Vision

Admission to King Edward VI Camp Hill School is highly competitive, with students being required to obtain a high score in a standardized entrance examination for entrance to Year 7, with sixth form entrance being allowed on the basis of strong GCSE results in appropriate subjects. The curriculum at King Edward VI is more traditional than the standard national curriculum, with a strong focus of core subjects and stringent internal examinations taking place regularly. The school supplements this with a wide range of extra-curricular activities, such as competitive sporting events and field trips.

“King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys is an outstanding school. It provides a first-rate all-round education, built on high expectations and standards in all aspects of school life. This quality of education helps prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of adult life. Achievement is outstanding. Students are selected on ability and are very highly motivated to succeed so they reach the best standards they can.”
