Job overview
Giggleswick School is a leading North of England co-educational boarding and day school with 415 pupils aged 2-18. Situated in 240 acres of magnificent countryside on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Giggleswick is located within walking distance of the popular market town of Settle, and just over an hour from both Leeds and Manchester. Established over 500 years ago, the school combines a long history with a truly modern, global approach to education.
The Governors are seeking to appoint an outstanding Bursar and Chief Operating Officer (COO) to support the new Headmaster, Sam Hart, in developing and implementing his ambitious plans for Giggleswick. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, energetic and resourceful individual to join the Senior Leadership Team and play a pivotal role in the ongoing strategic development of the School.
Reporting to the Headmaster, the Bursar and COO will provide leadership to a diverse team of support staff and ensure the successful management of the day-to-day non-educational operations of the School. This role requires a strong skill set in finance, strategic planning and execution, treasury and development fund management, property portfolio management and human resources.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective senior leadership and will evidence outstanding relationship-building and communication skills. They will demonstrate exceptional financial and commercial acumen, strong entrepreneurial skills and the ability to lead and direct the School’s support operations.
Existing school Bursar experience is not a pre-requisite and applications are encouraged from a broad range of sectors, including industry, financial and professional services. A highly attractive remuneration package, including family accommodation and fee remission, will be available for the successful candidate.
