Become part of the aspirational Ark Alexandra family and work alongside our dedicated team to spark a passion for learning in our young people which will last a lifetime and raise the expectations of a community. We are passionate about developing the whole student, believe that all our students can achieve excellence, and that they all deserve the very best education in order to secure their place at university or a career of their choice.

We are open to applications from all qualified teachers with the ability to teach ICT and with an understanding of the BTEC assessment framework at both level 2 (KS4) and level 3 (KS5). The department hosts a range of range of academic and vocational subjects, including, Business, Economics, Digital Technology, Health, Social and Child Care. An ability to teach more than one subject would be desirable. At Ark Alexandra, we are committed to promoting flexible working and therefore will also consider flexible or part-time working for this position.

Our vocational department has long been a popular choice for many students in dedicated department classrooms, all of which are well resourced ICT rooms.  We consistently achieve results which are amongst the best within the academy trust and are above national average.  We offer BTEC Tech Award in Enterprise at level 2 and BTEC Extended diploma at level 3, in addition to Economics A-Level to our Sixth Form students. The department offers opportunities throughout the year to extend students understanding outside of the classroom from visiting local start-up businesses, to larger multinationals such as EY in London. We are in the enviable position of having network support to organise these trips and source links. We encourage teachers to take part in off-site learning activities and organise industry speakers to share their experiences in addition to enriching and supporting the curriculum.

Each of our vocational teachers have a varying degree of commercial and educational experience, yet all share the same passion in developing their own and others’ teaching and learning expertise.  Everyone is friendly and supportive and importantly all have a fantastic sense of humour! Each teacher takes part in weekly co planning and training sessions and sharing good practice and resources is embedded in our daily routines.  We have an “open door” lesson policy which ensures you receive support and we promote peer-to-peer sharing of practice, all designed to help you be the best teacher you can be. Staff at our school work hard and we offer health benefits such as a subsidised gym membership with Freedom Leisure or if you prefer retail therapy, staff discounts via the Ark Rewards scheme.

As an Ark school, Ark Alexandra Academy is part of a network of 37 schools which has a wealth of experienced educators across the group. The development of our staff is one of our top priorities, at every level and in every role. You will have access to twice the number of training days as standard, all designed to meet the needs of our schools and our people. You will also have access to diverse career opportunities meaning you can carve out your own successful career in education, choosing the direction you want to take your career.

As the ideal candidate you will:

• Be committed to raising attainment in a challenging classroom environment

• Have a resilient character and a strong personal drive

• Have the ability to teach more than one subject within the department

• Have an unwavering determination to work with students of all abilities

• Be committed to continually improving classroom practice

• A desire to deliver enrichment activities after school

• Be committed to Ark’s ethos of high expectations and no excuses.
