Job overview

Founded in 1981, Leicester Grammar School is one of the UK’s top performing co-educational independent day schools.  Located in glorious countryside, seven miles from Leicester city centre, the Trust educates over 1,400 pupils aged 3-18 across three schools: Leicester Grammar School, Leicester Grammar Junior School and Stoneygate School.  Pupils benefit from state-of-the-art facilities on a 75 acre campus that provides both a beautiful and practical space in which to learn.  The schools are academically strong, and offer an ambitious grammar school-style education, enriched by countless extra-curricular activities.

Following a sustained period of successful growth and development, The Leicester Grammar School Trust now seeks an exceptional Business Director to lead all non-teaching elements of the Trust’s operations.  Reporting directly to the Head/CEO, the Business Director will oversee a dedicated team that spans finance, HR, estates, strategic planning, legal, catering, ICT, risk management, health and safety and a commercial subsidiary.  The Business Director is a critical member of the Trust’s Senior Management Team, and also acts as Clerk to the Board of Trustees and Secretary to various sub-committees.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of effective senior leadership, including the management of large teams and major change projects.  This person will possess exceptional strategic financial acumen in additional to well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.  A commitment to and empathy with the wider educational and charitable mission of the Trust will also be essential.
