This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic leader with a successful track record in educational business management to join an exceptional 11-18 school. 

St Bartholomew’s has engaged students, a talented staff and an ambitious governing body. It has a place at the heart of the community, vibrant traditions and modern facilities.  Founded in 1466 in Newbury, it has 1,780 students on roll, including an ‘open’ sixth form of 500. 

As part of our plans for growth, we are now seeking to appoint a Business Director who shares our commitment to making a real difference to children’s lives by improving education outcomes. You will become part of a forward-thinking and energetic team. 

Applications are invited from individuals with a strong track record in business management, in the education sector, who have the vision to create and deliver an ambitious and sustainable business strategy that will enable the school to achieve its goals. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the education sector. 

A key member of the Leadership Team, the successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape this important role and make a huge impact for the benefit of our students and the wider community. Additionally, he or she will lead the support services team, ensuring it operates at the highest level.

About St Bartholomew's School

St Bartholomew's School was founded in 1466 and is proud of its ancient tradition.  It is now an 11-18 comprehensive school of over 1975 students with a Sixth Form of 625, serving Newbury and a wide area of West Berkshire and the Hampshire/Wiltshire borders, with modern buildings and outstanding facilities.

The school prides itself on its academic success and student progress is outstanding with the average progress score for the last 5 years being 0.64. This puts St Bartholomew’s in the top 5% of schools nationally. A level results are in line with national averages.

Teaching at St Bartholomew’s School is a rewarding experience. Our students are eager to learn, well behaved and proud of their school, and this was reflected in our last Ofsted inspection (November 2021) in which the school was judged as Outstanding in all areas.
