Job overview

Cambridge Maths School (CMS) is a new specialist sixth form being developed in partnership with the University of Cambridge, opening in September 2023, with a focus on pioneering learning and increasing diversity in the field of maths. The school will provide a diverse range of young people with access to a unique educational experience, located in bespoke facilities on Mill Road in Cambridge. The school will offer A levels in mathematics, further mathematics, biology, chemistry, computer science and physics.

This is a hugely exciting time to join CMS as you will contribute to the school’s strategic development as part of the Senior Leadership Team from the very beginning. The ideal candidate will bring creativity and leadership skills to support and inspire both the Maths Department and the wider school community, as well as leading on the development of the unique curriculum in mathematics to meet the needs of students with an exceptional attitude to and aptitude for mathematics.

The school will deliver a highly specialised A-Level STEM-based curriculum to enthusiastic students from the eastern region. CMS works to attract high achieving students from groups who do not normally progress to the most competitive university STEM courses.

We are looking to appoint a leader who is both passionate about enabling young people from diverse backgrounds to thrive as well as having a proven track record in exemplary classroom practice.

If you would like to apply, please complete the application form and a letter (not more than 2 sides of A4) outlining:

 •         your reasons for applying

•         what you will bring to the role

•         what your style and approach will be if recruited to this post

•         why you believe you might be suited to this particular challenge/opportunity.

Applications close at 9am on Monday 9th January 2023

Please ensure your form and letter is returned to Jenna Bickley, Business Support Manager for ELA: jbickley@tela.org.uk.
