The role

We are seeking an experienced and professional Futures (Careers) Advisor to join the College on a full-time, permanent basis from Term 1, 2021. This position is focused on providing information and support to students, achieving excellence in the career learning experiences of K-12 students, to raise their vision beyond that of their classroom, and to inspire students with possible futures, careers and pathways.


About you

You will have:

• Appropriate and relevant tertiary qualifications

• Professional or Associate level membership with the Careers Advisor Association NSW 

• Capacity to implement stimulating and engaging careers programs

• A working knowledge and understanding of Australian tertiary course and selection processes and procedures and some knowledge of overseas courses, processes and procedures

• Experience in an educational environment and understanding of the needs of students in relation to career education

• Knowledge of the NSW education system and in particular Higher School Certificate programs

• Understanding of the requirements for tertiary entrance and the ability to advise students in relation to preferences  

• Knowledge of the range of Board delivered, TAFE delivered and VET endorsed courses offered in conjunction with the Higher School Certificate program

• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to demonstrate empathy, in order to develop and sustain quality working relationships 

• Sound computing skills and demonstrate the ability to perform effective research

• A high level of organisational skills 

• Commitment in supporting student wellbeing

The College consists of five separate schools – Preparatory, Junior, Middle, Upper and Senior, on 20 landscaped hectares. Each school caters to the different stages of learning and has a focus on Personalised Education and the wellbeing of each individual student. Students enjoy a variety of first-class facilities including: state-of-the-art Aquatic and Fitness Centre with a 50m swimming and diving pool, weights area, cardio machines and athlete tracking software; sporting fields; tennis and netball courts; hockey fields; gymnasium; 750-seat performing arts centre; agriculture plot; libraries; and buildings dedicated to specialised subjects such as art, music, languages and the sciences.

Curriculum

Pymble Ladies’ College offers a wide range of subjects in accordance with the NSW Education Standards Authority. Students also have the opportunity to study co-curricular subjects such as robotics, filmmaking, dance and art. Specialised programs, including the Pymble Elite Sportswomen’s Program, Pymble Musicians’ Program and the Sokratis Program for high potential learners, as well as overseas exchanges and tours, ensure students have every chance to follow their passions and excel.
