30 HOURS PER WEEK MONDAY TO FRIDAY (split shifts) / FULL TIME (52 WEEKS)/ PERMANENT

This is a key role within the school, to ensure there is a safe and legal environment for all students, staff and visitors. This is a hands-on role, requiring a range of practical and DIY skills. IT skills would also be desirable - but training will be provided. The post holder will work closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure a well maintained learning environment for our students.

  • Works within and complies with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding, child protection, health, safety and security, equal opportunities, confidentiality and data protection.
  • Works within clear guidelines or procedures but can make some non-routine decisions. Advice and guidance from senior staff/manager is generally available.
  • Ensure that buildings and the site are secure, including during out of academy hours and take remedial action if required
  • Act as the designated key holder for the academy premises
  • Operate and regularly check systems such as heating, cooling, lighting and security (including CCTV and alarms
  • Undertake minor repairs (i.e. not requiring qualified crafts person) and maintenance of the buildings and site
  • Arrange emergency repairs
  • Arrange regular maintenance and safety checks
  • Oversee onsite maintenance contractors, checking that work is completed to required standards and within required timescales
  • Monitor stock and order supplies

Who we are looking for

  • Good numeracy, literacy and written and verbal communication skills
  • Practical skills required for the role – Competent at basic building repairs and maintenance, ability to use industrial, electrical & mechanical equipment, ability to cope with the physical demands of the role
  • Ability to understand and apply Health and Safety Regulations
  • Be able to plan, manage and prioritise workload effectively, whilst remaining flexible to respond to urgent requests
  • Enthusiastic and conscientious, proactive and flexible
  • Ability to be flexible and work as part of a team or individually as required
  • Have a sense of pride in caring for our schools and their surroundings
  • Good, competent IT skills (training can be provided if required)
