The Governors are seeking to appoint a Caretaker in this ambitious, forward thinking school.

The successful candidates duties will include:

  • Opening up and closing of school 
  • Full site security to include monitoring the security of the school site – evenings and weekends - there is the possibility of a 2 bedroom school bungalow on the school site - a subsidised rental would apply
  • Setting up of school for whole school assemblies
  • Setting up/dismantling of exam hall during exams – tables/chairs
  • Regular driving of school minibuses – in support of trips/ servicing etc.
  • Regularly check school fields to ensure safe area
  • Respond to daily requests for general repairs and maintenance throughout the whole school
  • Moving deliveries / items around the school as and when needed
  • Moving classroom equipment/furniture around the school as and when needed
  • Accompany appropriate visitors when on school site, as needed – service engineers undertaking service checks etc
  • Check school systems and site infrastructure are working and effective
  • Renovation/redecoration of school areas, as requested. This may include carpentry, brickwork, basic glazing, re tiling, carpeting – as needed
  • Re painting of school areas as directed
  • Repairs to external pathways as needed
  • Undertake drainage/plumbing tasks, as required
  • Undertake regular whole school checks to ensure a safe environment and undertake repairs as needed
  • Provide a safe environment for students/teachers to work which includesGritting the school site as required / Ensuring salt bins are full
  • Ensure the caretaker unit/yard is well maintained and compliant in terms of H&S
  • Undertake regular fire checks and log accordingly

About Pewsey Vale School

Pewsey Vale School is a small mixed 11-16 comprehensive school catering for students from widely varied backgrounds in the village of Pewsey in the Pewsey Vale of Wiltshire.  Pewsey Vale School is currently in the process of joining Acorn Education Trust and view this as an exciting opportunity.

The Pewsey Vale grounds are shared with a leisure centre and primary school. The village of Pewsey is known for its statue of Alfred the Great and its annual carnival. It also has convenient road and rail access to London.
