An excellent HMC/IAPS Co-educational Day and Boarding School with 1100 pupils aged 3-18.
We are currently seeking to appoint a whole-school (Prep and Senior) Chaplain with the imagination and energy to lead our Trust-wide Chaplaincy.
As an ordained member of the Church of England or a Christian denomination in good standing with the Anglican Church, you will have experience of ministry with young people from diverse backgrounds. You will be an exceptional speaker and preacher, regardless of the age of the audience or congregation, with a sincere, warm and engaging style appropriate to a School setting.
We will look to you to work closely with the senior leadership team in the development of the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural aspects of school life, in line with the development of our wider pastoral curriculum.
You will also take a lead role as a member of the Pastoral Committee and supporting the PSHE (Personal, Social & Heath Education) curriculum. Furthermore, you will work closely with the pupil-led Service and Wellbeing Committee (which is the pupil voice on Service, Mental Health, Spirituality, Life Skills and Equality).

About Bede's Senior School
Bede’s Senior School, located in Hailsham, East Sussex is an independent, co-educational, secondary school for children aged between 13 and 19. It was founded in 1979 by Peter Pyemont. The building covers 140 acres of the Sussex Downs. It is both a day and boarding school. There are approximately 125 girls and 173 boys at the school at present. It was established in 1895 in Eastbourne as a preparatory school for boys. It then became a senior boarding school in 1978 and later in 1979 it moved to its current premises. There are five boarding houses for the children. These houses were surveyed in 2013 and valued for their Outstanding Design and Innovation.

The school believes every pupil should be given equal opportunities to reach their goals. The children are the main focus. They have over 40 subjects to choose from at GCSE level and even more choices during sixth form. Each child should develop personally, as well as academically. They are encouraged to be creative and take part in school clubs. People in the community are valued, and students are prompted to teach residents IT, English, music and art skills.

“Health and safety procedures ensure that the premises, accommodation and facilities are maintained to appropriate standards. A range of formal and informal opportunities is provided for boarders to express their views. Effective use is made of electronic means of communication to enable boarders to contact their families. Records pertaining to boarders’ personal and academic development are carefully maintained. An appropriate police and regular checking procedures ensure that the whereabouts of every boarder is known. The school has a suitable complaints policy and records show that it is rarely used but effectively implemented where necessary.”
