Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional leader as Chief Executive Officer of one of the most successful multi-academy trusts in the country.

The Good Shepherd Trust is a family of twelve academies across the Diocese of Guildford. We have grown quickly and successfully since our formation in 2013 – we currently have eleven primary schools and one secondary school. We are part of the larger Diocese of Guildford which encompasses some 86 Church of England schools within Surrey, Hampshire, West Sussex and Kingston.

Our vision is to ensure that our schools provide high quality, holistic education within a distinctively Christian context for all learners, enabling them to reach their full potential. We are a Trust that creates an effective climate for learning, sets standards of excellence in teaching and learning, offers a curriculum and learning environment relevant to our learners, and builds strong partnerships with parents and our community.

The new Chief Executive Officer, working with the Board, executive team and school leaders, will build a strategy that focuses on growth, with an ambition to expand towards thirty schools over the next few years, school improvement and strong corporate governance. Ensuring that the Trust is equipped to support growth operationally, improve school performance and maintain the identity of the Trust’s ethos are key challenges for our incoming CEO.

You will bring leadership excellence, with the skills to shape and influence the pattern of Church school education within the Trust and across the Diocese. An empathy with the values of the Trust is critical: though you do not have to be a practising Christian, being supportive of the Trust and Diocese is essential.

We are in a robust financial position and our School Leaders are highly performing. We are looking for an individual with integrity, charisma, creativity and drive who can grasp this opportunity to make a real and tangible difference to young people’s lives built around the values of the Christian faith.

Closing date: 6 November 2017
Final interviews will be held 29 & 1 December

The Good Shepherd Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required for the successful applicant.
