Location: London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Salary: Competitive

Developing and forward thinking, Canary Wharf College (CWC) was formed in 2011 on the Isle of Dogs, East London. It has grown to be an academy of one secondary and two primary schools. The two primary schools, East Ferry and Glenworth, have been graded as outstanding by Ofsted and the secondary school, Crossharbour, as good, with a combined total of 1000 students and 100 staff. The Trust’s vision is for ‘all of our students to achieve personal success and develop the values and life skills that will allow them to lead happy and rewarding lives’.  CWC is a non-denominational Christian Trust, our current schools embrace the founding ethos ‘To Live, Share and Celebrate the Love of Learning in a Christian environment whilst welcoming those of other faiths and backgrounds’.

Details of what this looks like in practice can be found on the CWC website: https://www.canarywharfcollege.co.uk/values--visions/4523.html

CWC’s founder, Sarah Counter, is retiring as CEO and the Trust is now looking to appoint a new CEO, who will work closely with the Board of Trustees on the management of strategic operations, on institutional development, and the delivery of its key strategic objectives. Creative in approach and an inspirational leader, they will provide vision and direction to the staff to achieve the highest levels of performance, the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning and horizon-scanning to identify growth opportunities for the Trust.

The successful candidate will be a sophisticated internal and external communicator with strong stakeholder management skills to ensure effective working with a range of external stakeholders, including the Regional Schools Commissioner, the Department for Education, local authorities, and Trustees. With relevant school leadership experience, they will be empathetic to the founding ethos. The Trust’s next CEO will require proven leadership skills and ability to drive change and grow the Trust. With an empowering style to support, develop and challenge leaders across the Trust, the successful candidate will ensure outstanding leadership within the academies and wider teams.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. Successful candidates will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and references.

About Canary Wharf College Crossharbour

About Us

Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is a new free school with the most incredible journey both having been undergone and still ahead. It has the highest ambitions for young people in our community on the Isle of Dogs and across the wider borough of Tower Hamlets. We opened in 2016 at the top of one of our primary schools and moved into a new interim purpose built site with excellent facilities in September 2018. As of September 2022, the school will be at capacity in its current site with 450 students from Years 7-11, taught in small class sizes, and will expand into sixth form once we have opened our permanent 1200 strong school, currently scheduled for September 2024 opening.

Growth

Canary Wharf College Crossharbour is part of a growing Multi-Academy Trust. Our ethos is to 'Live, Share and Celebrate a Love of Learning in a Christian Environment, whilst welcoming those of other faiths and cultures.'

We are the third school founded by Sarah Counter. Canary Wharf College East Ferry, established in 2011, and Canary Wharf College Glenworth, founded in 2014, are both primary schools educating children aged 4-11. The Trust is a friendly and welcoming community, made up of committed and experienced practitioners who are keen to collaborate and share knowledge and expertise across phases.
