Job overview

Thank you for your interest in the above post at York High School.  We are a school on a rapid journey of improvement after a Special Measures Judgement in 2017.  We believe that we are now a good school.  We are a school that serves a truly comprehensive community and safeguarding and child protection have always been a strength of the school.

We are seeking to appoint a colleague who has the skills and potential experience to be the lead professional for Child Protection and Looked After Children on a day to day basis, working with our Senior Pastoral Leader and Deputy Head teacher who is the DSL.

You will be joining a team of colleagues who have significant skills and experience of supporting young people from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.  Sadly, Child Protection is a significant issue for our school, but we have an excellent track record in supporting young people and their families through difficult circumstances.  The successful candidate will continue this good practice and make a difference to the lives of the students who need it the most.

The successful candidate will also have a key role in working with our Care and Guidance Team, which includes a part-time school counsellor, in delivering emotional support to the young people in their care.  This will be done by working alongside individual young people and with small groups of pupils; you will be expected to develop effective strategies for working with young people and deliver training to colleagues, which will enable them to enhance the emotional well-being our young people.

I would be delighted to discuss the post with you or to arrange for you to see for yourself what York High School is really like then please email d.becton@yorkhigh.southbank.academy to arrange a visit to the school.  Application forms are available from the recruitment page of our website www.yorkhighschool.co.uk/recruitment

The closing date and time for applications will be Sunday 27th June at midnight.
