Child and Family Support Worker

Fixed Term from September 2022 – August 2025

35 hours per week

SCALE SO1 Point 22-25 (pro rata)

We are looking for a Family Support Worker for our fantastic school to work with our families and children to overcome barriers to learning. You would be helping to improve children’s attendance and leading on the delivery of a wider ranging programme of Family Learning as well as working with pupils to build their confidence and resilience.

Rhyl is at a very exciting point as we develop our community provision and extended services across two sites. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference to the lives and life-chances of our children. 

The post is a three year contract to start in September 2022 and is a full time post, term time only. 

We are looking for candidates with:

  • The ability to act as advocate, mediator and negotiator for our parents and carers in a range of situations
  • Significant experience of working with and engaging parents and carers and children through individual and group-based support
  • The ability to develop and deliver a range of family learning opportunities to support parents and carers to engage more fully in their child’s learning and to reintegrate parents into work or study
  • An understanding of how to promote good school attendance and punctuality and how to tackle poor attendance 
  • Drive, enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitudes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong partnership skills, including ability to work professionally and confidently in close liaison with schools and other agencies
