Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the following position: CLASSROOM LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Part time, temporary position (27.5 hours per week)

Applicants must:

 have a current NSW Working with Children Check

 a knowledge of and commitment to the Catholic ethos and mission of the school.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

 experience in working collaboratively with teaching staff in a classroom

environment

 experience in working with children with special needs, including children on the autistic spectrum

 awareness of the needs of students with diagnosed allergies and training in the use of EpiPens

 ability to successfully implement programs and document progress regarding individual and/or small group support

 preparedness to undergo further training in aiding children with special needs.

About St Joseph’s Primary School LAURIETON

St Joseph's Primary School is an independent mixed gener Roman Catholic primary school catering for kindergarten to year 6. The school has 11 teaching staff and is located in the coastal town of Laurieton in New South Wales, Australia.

The school has been providing Catholic education since 1951 and is part of the Lismore Diocese school system. It draws students from the communities and towns of Laurieton, Kew, Kendall, Bonny Hills, Lake Cathie, North Haven and Dunbogan.

Set in a stunning natural environment, the school boasts modern facilities and resources. It has roughly one computer per two pupils, and every classroom is fitted with an interactive whiteboard. Pupils can also have access to a school canteen.

Extracurricular opportunities include a chance to be part of one of the school's two choirs or band, and there is a wide range of sports and community sporting events to participate in.

Curriculum

The syllabus taught at St Joseph's adheres to the framework set by the New South Wales Board of Studies. Maths, English, religious education, science and technology, creative and practical arts, human society and its environment, and personal development, health and physical education make up the essential seven Primary Catholic School Curriculum Key Learning Areas (KLAs).
