Purpose of the Position

Marketing of the School including raising the profile and improvement of all communications. Developing and implementing an alumni relations and fundraising strategy.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Strategy and Planning
  1. Produce, develop and deliver the annual marketing strategy and budget in conjunction with the Strategic Plan of the school and Prep Schools Trust
  2. Promote and monitor the use of the School’s brand 
  3. Lead and develop a whole-school communications programme to ensure highly effective communication with pupils and families
  4. Undertake research to inform future marketing strategy
  5. Identify and develop new ways to attract, recruit and retain pupils in conjunction with the Admissions Registrar 
  • Public Relations
  1. Develop and lead a positive public relations strategy. This includes writing weekly letters and ad hoc emails promoting the work and successes of our pupils, staff and the school
  2. Development and implementation of an effective digital and social media strategy, including SEO and all social media channels
  3. Develop strong relationships with local/regional/national journalists and with key influencers (e.g. IAPS, Good Schools Guide and Tatler)
  4. Write articles and gain coverage in key media areas that highlight progress and achievements of the School
  5. Promote the School externally, attending events such as schools and other exhibitions, networking events etc.
  6. Organise Open Days and Events as required 


  • Marketing
  • Create, develop and deliver effective advertising campaigns
  • Develop, lead and deliver a pro-active online presence – including the website and all social media 
  • Keep website, parent portal and intranet information and photos fully up to date and frequently develop a fresh look 
  • Work closely with the Head and Leadership team or other staff to co-ordinate the marketing of events e.g. open mornings
  • Organise, produce and update the School’s marketing materials such as prospectuses, handbooks, newsletters, yearbook and other documents
  • Where needed, coordinate mail shots and email campaigns 
  • Liaise with and support the Admissions Registrar in monitoring the admissions figures, to use in the development of all marketing activities


  • Alumni and Fundraising
  1. Build and develop relationships with Alumni
  2. Develop and maintain the Alumni database ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date
  3. Put in place a robust process that fosters Alumni links e.g. biannual newsletter, events
  4. Create fundraising processes and procedures 
  5. Support the communications for all fundraising projects


  • General
  1. Liaise with the marketing and admissions teams across the Prep Schools Trust to share best practice and contribute to the Trust marketing strategy
  2. Support teaching and non-teaching staff in their roles as marketeers of the School
  3. Uphold and enforce School rules and work in co-operation with colleagues to promote the high standards of behaviour and concern for others
  4. Attend INSET sessions and other such meetings as may be necessary 
  5. Be fully aware of and implement all policies within the school
  6. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with children, staff and parents 
  7. Work efficiently and effectively in conjunction with the school’s IT, support and other administrative teams
  8. Maintain the Google Drive in an organised manner 
  9. Place orders for the department e.g. branded stationery 
  10. Undertake any other duties, which may reasonably required
