Our well established and fully inclusive Secondary School is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, creative and experienced Complex Needs Teacher to start in September 2019. The successful candidate will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team supporting our students with complex needs.  Based in our 160 student school, situated in the capital Stanley, the successful applicant will teach in a well-resourced inclusive SEND facility called ‘the Hub’.  The postholder will work with the SENCo and a team of LSA’s to deliver a bespoke curriculum to a small number of students with complex SENDs. Applicants for the posts will have up-to-date knowledge and experience within SEND / complex need provision. This is a unique opportunity to live overseas whilst working within an English school system.

We are seeking to recruit a Complex Needs Teacher who:

  • is a graduate secondary teacher with Qualified Teacher Status, (recognisable in UK) who has completed the statutory induction year as an NQT and has 2 or more years’ post NQT experience;
  • is focussed on teaching and learning to help students achieve high levels of progress in a positive and effective learning environment;
  • has experience in teaching students with a variety of complex needs working from level P3 to NC L3 and is able to design and deliver bespoke courses focusing on life skills, numeracy and literacy, as well as supporting the students to enable them to access  other mainstream subjects;
  • can demonstrate recent experience of teaching students with complex SEND within the National Curriculum for England and an up to date knowledge of developments within the area;
  • can work effectively with colleagues in the school and feeder primary to ensure smooth transition of complex need students;
  • can work with the SENCo to plan effective alternative curriculums for complex need students;
  • is able to oversee the day to day running of ‘the Hub’ including supervision of the learning support team;
  • is committed to assisting in the further development of differentiation and SEND inclusive practice across the school;
  • is familiar with, and able to use, EQUALS and PIVATS or similar;
  • has taught  students who have difficulties within the 4 broad areas of need as defined in the special educational needs and disability code of practice: 0-25;
  • is able to contribute to the development of PSHE, pastoral life and extra curriculum opportunities;
  • has experience of ‘Team Teach’ or similar training.
