The Role

Function of the Post

  • To provide high quality personal and professional support to the Bursar and Clerk to the Governors to enable the Bursar to focus maximum time on strategic Senior Leadership role across a range of functions crucial to the success and long-term sustainability of this unique highly successful independent school. 

Bursar and Clerk to the Governors:

  • The roles of Bursar and Clerk to the Governors are two busy roles entrusted to one individual. The Bursar is a member of the School’s Executive Team and is accountable to the Chair of Governors and the Heads of the Prep and Senior Schools for the strategic planning and commercial running of the school, the long term financial wellbeing and sustainability of the school and ensuring that all resources are utilised to maximum effect.

Main Accountabilities

  • Monitor all school policies and procedures, maintaining a log of when they are due for renewal.
  • Check the list of policies required by the ISI, keeping up to date with any changes.
  • Upload all policies required by the ISI to their portal at the start of each academic year.
  • Attend compliance training from the ISI.Liaise with relevant members of staff across the school to ensure policies and procedures are updated in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure all policies on the website and Firefly are the current versions.
  • Champion and spread awareness of school policies and promote the observation of practices and procedures designed to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the Single Central Register and check it half-termly.
  • Monitor fire risk assessments and Health & Safety compliance checks.
  • Prepare reports on compliance for the Executive Team and Governors as required.
