About our school:

Broadwood School is a specialist setting set in the idyllic hills of Halifax with provision to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Through targeted interventions such as Lego Therapy, Drawing and Talking and Speech and Language, we aim to encourage pupils to develop their skills around self-regulation, managing emotions and effective communication.

Broadwood School is on a journey to becoming a Trauma Informed School, where we consider the external factors which can lead to contextually inappropriate behaviours. To ensure the best outcomes for our pupils, we invest in our staff training and development to ensure our staff are trained to support pupils through proactive de-escalation.

Overview of the role of Cook:

· Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen and other designated areas throughout the house supporting the head cook

· Maintaining high standards of hygiene by adhering to company policies and procedures

· Other duties involved will be supporting the head cook in food preparation (well-balanced dinners adhering to dietary and allergy requirements), stock control, regular checks and monitoring of appliances

We would love to hear from people who:

· Have experience of working in a school environment, preferred but not necessary

· This vacancy is open to a specialist with Food Hygiene Qualifications or Equivalent

We develop our pupils’ social and emotional resilience by having clear boundaries which pupils are supported to thrive within. The school uses a restorative approach to conflict which allows pupils to quickly reintegrate into their learning. Within newly introduced nurturing room, we have a variety of methodical approaches to help calm students down from Lego Therapy to our sensory sandpit.
