We are looking for a Cook to join our team at Underley Garden in Kirkby Lonsdale.
About the School
The young people who attend Underley Garden all have an EHCP/statement of special educational needs. Underley meets the needs of a range of SEN including; Autism, Learning Difficulties, Mental Health & Medical needs and related behavioural difficulties.

We are looking for a Cook who will produce high quality lunches to staff and the young people in our care.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for people with the belief that they can make positive changes.
You will be a responsible, friendly and an organised person who has a passion for providing nutritious lunches for both staff and young people, considering the requirements of Healthy Schools
Essential Criteria
- Produce food to a high standard, in accordance with the Schools Dietary Policy.
- Ensure that the costs of running the kitchen fall within present and agreed budgets.
- Ensure the kitchen is a clean and tidy environment at all times.
- Plan varied menus and order food, weekly in advance.
- Contribute towards improving the Schools Food for Life status by improving the diets of Young People in order to promote healthy eating.
- Supervision of Kitchen Assistant.
- Good communication skills
- Compassionate – good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with children and young people, other staff remaining sensitive and empathetic
- Intuitive and caring nature
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the children and young people
