Job overview

Working arrangements: 40 hours per week, worked between 8:00am and 4:30pm with an unpaid break.  This position is term time plus 3 weeks.

Please note our terms are shorter than in state schools and therefore there would be the ability to work the 3 additional worked weeks around this if required.

We are looking to appoint a confident and enthusiastic Cover Assistant to provide cover support across the school. The ideal candidate will be highly professional, approachable and have previous experience in providing teaching cover and working to lesson plans and be confident in both behaviour management and supervising a class of up to 24 children. 

As the role will include covering various positions, flexibility, excellent communication skills and a positive approach are essential.  Working with nursery age children in Hallfield First & Foundation through to Prep (Hallfield pupils are 3 months to 13 years), a good understanding of EYFS and KS1 is required, with some knowledge of KS2 and KS3 curriculum being desirable.  

The ideal candidate will have a relevant childcare qualification (minimum level 3) and experience of working with children aged 3-11 years.

With a nurturing approach to supporting children’s learning across the curriculum, the successful candidate will be child focused with a clear understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities.

The ability to communicate effectively with both children and colleagues and work under instruction as well as independently is essential.
