Job overview

We are looking to appoint a confident, highly organised individual as a Cover Supervisor to provide lesson and registration cover for class teachers in Years 7–11. Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication skills are essential, as you will be required to liaise between both students and class teachers. The post will suit someone with a natural ability to engage with young people. This role is a superb opportunity for anyone wishing to gain experience in a school environment, possibly as part of their career development.

We are a friendly and welcoming school that enjoys an excellent reputation for providing a high standard of education. We are described by the surrounding community as a “local treasure”. We provide students and colleagues with a warm and supportive learning environment. This creates an atmosphere that enables students to reach their full potential intellectually, physically, spiritually, and ethically. We believe it is important that young people recognise that failure is part of success, and we encourage them to take risks with their learning. This supports students to achieve their goals. Students are challenged to do their very best and make good progress from their starting points.

Our vision is to inspire our students “to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more”. We ignite a passion for education and a determination to succeed. We will develop our students’ resilience so that mountains become molehills rather than the other way round. We provide leadership opportunities and recognise the positive contributions that students make both in and out of school. We embed core values of respect and responsibility and develop kindness and compassion. We give our students a sense of themselves in the local community and the wider world.

We will consider applications for full- and part-time roles. Days of the week worked are negotiable. An 8.20am start is essential.

To apply, please visit: www.uplands-academy.org

Closing date: 10am on 3rd January 2023

NB: We advise applying promptly for this post as we reserve the right to close and interview early if sufficient suitable applications have been received.

All posts are subject to DBS enhanced clearance, health checks and satisfactory references. MARK Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

We are a mixed 11–18 non-selective converter academy with approximately 835 students. Uplands Academy converted to an Academy in September 2022 and became a member of the MARK Education Trust (formerly Beacon Community College Academy Trust). The acronym MARK was selected because staff who work in the trust are motivated, ambitious, resourceful, and knowledgeable. This partnership will provide many exciting opportunities for professional development, and the sharing of good practice across the two schools. This is the start of a new era for Uplands and an excellent time to join our thriving rural school.

We work meticulously to secure a culture of unapologetically high expectations that are underpinned by our collective, uncompromising belief and ambition for the students of Uplands Academy, and for the experienced, loyal, highly skilled and highly effective team of staff that teach them, allowing teachers to teach and students to learn. The Academy is committed to the development of both its staff and students.

At Uplands Academy, the relationships between our staff and our students are excellent and ones that we are proud of. Our staff have high expectations, are ambitious for our students, and they know them well. We pride ourselves on our rigorous focus on the child as a unique individual, including our most disadvantaged and those with SEND. We ensure that the lessons that our students receive are personalised and inclusive, enabling them to be actively engaged in their learning.   We want our children to be happy, successful, and confident by providing the best possible education for all our students. We want to be an exceptional educational establishment for our community.
