Job overview

We are seeking an energetic, committed, and well-qualified person to join our school team and drive the provision of cover across the year groups.  This is a superb opportunity to work at Therfield School and develop your career and would suit a range of candidates.  The principal duty will be to oversee student study by providing classroom cover, implementing set work, monitoring students and reporting on progress during short-term teacher absence.  Cover supervisors work with students but will not be required to do preparation, planning or marking. Other duties could involve examination supervision, accompanying school trips and being a Teaching Assistant in lessons in some circumstances.

If you have the ability to encourage students to learn, to maintain discipline in the classroom and can work flexibly during the course of the year, we would like to hear from you. This role would be ideal for someone looking to gain experience before embarking on teacher training.

The position is initially a one-year contract and could suit either a qualified or unqualified teacher and the salary is FTE - £22,457 to £26,097, actual salary £17,105 to £19,878 (32.5 hours per day over 38.6 weeks).

Therfield School is a mixed secondary with sixth form based in Leatherhead, Surrey. The school is a non-selective, non-denominational state school with 1,178 students aged 11-18, approximately 236 of whom attend the sixth form. 

The school has a partnership with the Leatherhead Responsible Business Network, which provides a range of activities throughout the year to help prepare pupils for the working world. These have included careers fairs and mentoring schemes.
